Parking Improvement

  • Challenge: Common frustration of finding urban parking due to unpredictable availability and complex information.

  • Objective: Redesign a parking app to simplify the experience, providing actionable insights for efficient parking.

  • My Role: Generalist UX/UI Designer (end-to-end product development lifecycle).

  • Key Goals: 25% reduction in search time, 20% improved reservation success, 30% increased user satisfaction.

User Research & Discovery:

  • Conducted 8 user interviews, contextual inquiries, and stakeholder interviews.

  • Key Insights: Need for real-time information, simplicity, clear pricing, reliability, mobile accessibility, and visual communication.

  • User Scenario: Mariana, a busy commuter, needs a tool to quickly locate, understand, and reserve parking, near the venue where her favorite band is going to perform.

Design & Iteration:

  • Structured application around core driver tasks (search, filter, reserve, navigate).

  • Iterative process: low-fidelity wireframes to interactive Figma prototypes.

  • Usability Testing (2 rounds, 10 users): Led to enhanced map experience, streamlined reservations, intuitive filters, and robust navigation.

  • UI Principles: Clarity, simplicity, accessibility, consistency.

Final Solution:

  • Primary dashboard provides immediate parking overview.

  • Intuitive filters and map view with clear availability.

  • Streamlined reservation process.

  • Emphasis on readability and intuitive icons to reduce stress.

Impact & Results (Pilot Program):

  • 28% reduction in parking search time.

  • 22% improvement in reservation success.

  • 90% user satisfaction.

  • 15% reduction in local traffic congestion.

This project demonstrates the positive impact of user-centered design on urban mobility and daily convenience.
